Body Awareness The Shirley, Vermont Plays Project
“Body Awareness” week on a Vermont college campus is the setting for this smart and touching comedy about ordinary people grasping for connection. When Phyllis, the organizer, and her partner, Joyce, agree to host a photographer famous for his female nude portraits, a firestorm erupts that could break apart their unconventional family. Body Awareness will be presented as part of a landmark local collaboration among SpeakEasy Stage, Company One, and the Huntington Theatre Company to showcase the first three plays of breakout writer Annie Baker, all of which are set in the fictional town of Shirley, VT.
