ART NEW ENGLAND MAGAZINE is pleased to introduce its Artists of the World travel program, a unique pairing of education and culture abroad.

Travel to Venice with the publishers of ART NEW ENGLAND MAGAZINE March 5-11, 2006 and explore the city that has inspired artists for centuries.

Occupying 117 islands in the azure waters of the Adriatic, this lagoon city is a watery maze of grand canals, 177 smaller canals, over 400 bridges and the world’s most famous sandbar, the Lido. The water-lapped palaces along the Canal Grande are just as the brochure photographs make them out to be; Piazza San Marco does indeed look as perfect as a film set; and the panorama across the water from the Palazzo Ducale is precisely as Canaletto painted it. The cultural heritage preserved in the museums and churches is a source of endless fascination, yet you should discard your itineraries for a day and just wander—the anonymous parts of Venice reveal as much of the city’s essence as the highlighted attractions.

  • Round-trip air transportation on regularly scheduled Alitalia Airlines flights from Boston to Venice, via Milan
  • Five nights’ three-star accommodations at Hotel Casanova
  • Buffet breakfast daily
  • 3 lectures, 2 include tours
