Delight in the glory days of the railroad paired with quaint New England
charm as the Club offers two excursions to the Connecticut River Valley. You
set the pace on these drive-yourself weekends while we provide the
first-class amenities, including dinner train dining! Highlighted by Friday
evening tickets at one of Americas world-class musical theatres, The
Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, our weekends include a two-night stay
at the Inn at Middletown, just 30 minutes away. Located on Main Street, the
historic National Guard Armory has been transformed into an elegant 100-room
inn situated at the entrance of renowned Wesleyan University. With charming,
colonial-style decor, the Inn has a restaurant, lounge and indoor pool and
spa. Main Street, part of the Broad Street Historic District, offers
visitors a classic New England experience and contains a variety of shops,
restaurants and entertainment. To ensure youre free to relax and take in
the panoramic views of the valley, weve included dinner Saturday night
aboard the elegant Essex Clipper trains lavishly restored 1920s Pullman
cars. The experience of chugging past scenic vistas aboard a classic steam
engine truly reminds us that some things should never end, especially
weekends.
