What’s the best part about visiting
Washington, D.C. in the fall? The summer
crowds have gone, the leaves are turning
and the air is crisp and comfortable! Come with
The Travel Club on a three-night getaway that
includes the best of our nation's capital. With
AMTRAK’s exceptional Acela service you’ll be
in D.C. in just under seven hours, arriving in
the early afternoon. We’ve included dinner in
Georgetown followed by a three-hour
“Illuminations Tour” where you’ll enjoy a panoramic
view of the floodlit monuments and
memorials and a short stop (or two). After a day
at leisure we’ll whisk you out of the city for a
half-day tour including visits to ArlingtonNational Cemetery and a drive through OldTown Alexandria. Next you’ll head for MountVernon Estate and the highlight of your weekend—
the Fall Wine Festival and Sunset Tour.
You’ll arrive in time to explore the 45 acres of
the estate that are open to the public—before
the Festival begins at 6 p.m. Sample wines from
award-winning Virginia wineries, enjoy live
blues and meet George Washington on the
Mansion’s piazza. You’ll also have a rare opportunity
to tour Mount Vernon in the evening and
visit Washington’s basement cellar vaults. You'll
be back in Boston by Sunday evening—whether
you go back to work Monday is up to you!
